inspired by.....where else....Pinterest!

Good morning!!
It is a happy morning beacuse......
we won our Roller Derby season opener last night!!
Whoop Whoop!!
 It was so much fun.
We beat the visiting team 229 to 74.
I am a bit sore, I think I may have bruised a few ribs, but hey, there's no broken bones. :)

I just thought I would share a simple card I made based on something I saw on Pinterest!!

Cool huh?
I actually want to try out this technique of printing out silhouettes onto old book pages. I just love the effect!

Well, here's my card take on it:

Not the best re-do but I like it fine enough. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

CQC #134

Good morning!
It's ColourQ time. :)

I just LOVE these colours!
Maybe not to create with, but in general. Getting the blue in there, I found a bit difficult.
The bravo burgundy & calypso coral just look so great together.

This card didn't turn out exactly as planned but I am mostly happy with the end result anyway!

I used a flower from Paper Smooches "Reflections" set, my new HA/Studio Calico background stamp, and coloured in some pearls to match the bravo burgundy.

Please head on over to the ColourQ blog to see all of the gorgeous inspiration to be had there. Then get inky and play along with us!
You have until Sunday April 29th to link up your creations.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great Tuesday. :)

CAS-ual fridays #49

Hello there!
I have been having a bit of trouble sleeping, I'm trying to switch over from days to nights. So what better to do than create a card!!

I was perusing the sketch challenge blogs and came across this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge.

What a lovely little sketch!
I took a few liberties with it.......

I used some PTI dies and Paper Smooches stamps. I mixed a couple of sentiments together to create this one sentiment.
I also used my Hero Arts evelope stamp to give sometexture to that frame.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

RetroSketch #8

Good day!
It's Saturday which means another fabulous sketch from RetroSketches.

How fun is that?
You've got to check out Jackie's original card here.
It's a beauty.

I didn't stray very far from the sketch, i just love the banners!
I used my silhouette to cut out the banners, my PTI text style background to ink them up and a sentiment from Paper Smooches.

Head on over to the RetroSketches blog to see the amazing samples Arielle, Laurie and Jackie had made. I love the way their minds work!!
You guys are blowing us away every week. Great work.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend!

mom

a quote

I miss you and think of you every day!
I hope wherever you are you are having a party.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Love you.

Stella - a layout!

So I did it again!
Instead of doing something productive tonight like doing laundry, cleaning up my craft room, maybe even reading, I made another digital layout!

Now, those of you that saw my first one may see some similarities, but I actually tried to base the layout on the most recent RetroSketches sketch.
I wanted to see how it would look in scrapbook page form!

I just LOVE taking pictures of my pup!!
Super simple, to the sketch exactly, but I like the way it turned out. :)
Thanks for stopping by.
Be sure to check out the RetroSketches blog, you have one more day left to play along!

Sparks for CAS-ual Fridays

Good Morning!!

I have a fun card to share with you today.
I'm sure you all know how much I LOOOOOVE Paper Smooches stamps.
Well, they have a Sparks Challenge DT call on right now and how could I NOT try out.

The sparks challenge for these past two weeks has been to be inspired by this photo.

(I'm getting this in just under the wire as the challenge closes tonight.)

I have a feeling you are going to look at my card and wonder where in the world I got this from!! I promise to explain. :)

So....I know I could have gone with the text theme or the blues & orange for the colour scheme, and I was going to, but then I got reading the quote and was inspired by the word MILLIONAIRE.
I thought millionaire's have money, where do you get money, your job.
And there you have it!!

Now I have to admit, this took a while to create. I used a whopping seven, yes seven, Paper Smooches sets to create it.
I won't tell you about the obvious ones but I thought I would share the maybe not so obvious!

I used the "towel" from Hang Ups, and the "$" symbol from Santa Paws to create the dollar bills in the background, and I used the "ribbon tie" for the kite from the Sunny Side Up set to give the little monster a bow tie. I thought, you need to look presentable for a new job, what better way than a bow tie!!

I am also adding this to the CAS-ual Fridays current challenge, Opposites Attract since red & green are opposite on the colour wheel.

Click on the pictures to go to the challenge sites!

Thanks for stopping by and for following me through my though processes!!
Have a wonderful day. :)

faux letterpress fun

Hey there!
I'm posting for a second time today,
see my ColourQ post here

I recently purchased some fun embossing folders by Spellbinders,
and decided to play around with the faux letterpress technique.
I was really impressed with how it turned out!

Now I have tried this technique before and been less than impressed with how things turned out. Now, chances are it was user error!!
This time I used chalk ink and just sort of rubbed it along the raised section that I wanted to impress. I also used the folder as a "plate" instead of a folder, like how you would use the PTI embossing plates.

                                  You can click on the
pictures for the direct
link to the products!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ColourQ #133

Good Morning!
How was everyone's weekend?
I ended up working more of than I'd liked but since the weather isn't that great right now, I may as well be getting paid to be inside!!

Of course it's Tuesday, so I have a ColourQ colour combo to share with you.

The colours are so mod! I love them!

I was thinking this would be a great Halloween combo, don't you think?
But I did not go in that direction!

I simply drew on some lines with my copics to make this "patterned paper".
Super easy.
I decided to add a bit of felt using the brighter of the colours, and thought they helped a bit with the sentiment.

Please head on over to the ColourQ blog to peruse the plethora of inspiration you will find when you get there!
I hope you will play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day!

want to cuddle?

Good Morning!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far.
I got to enjoy some fabulous rollerderby this weekend.
Calgary is hosting a tournament at the Olympic Oval, and we are lucky to have teams from all over the west. We even have a team from Spokane that came up to play. There is also a men's tournament and the juniors got to scrimmage and show us what they've got.
Oh my are they ever cute! I think the age range was 6 to 17.

Anyway, I have a cute cuddly card to share with you. I was inspired recently by some of Debby Hughes' layouts, like this one.
And decided to try one of my own.

Isn't he adorable? How can you say no to that face? :)

Thanks for stopping by, have a great rest of your weekend!

Good Morning!
Welcome to the weekend. :)

I have yet another wonderful RetroSketches sketch to share with you today.
Today's sketch is brought to you by non other than the fabulous Arielle!
You can see her original card here.

I know so many people with birthday's on April & May, so I needed to load my stash full of some birthday cards.
(So you may be seeing a common theme for a while!)

I recently got my April release Paper Smooches stamps in the mail and I absolutely LOVE this butterfly. It's just so pretty!
The papers are from My Mind's Eye, Darling Dear paper pack.

Please do take a quick pop over to the RetroSketches blog to ooh and aah over what Arielle, Laurie and Jackie have to share with you.
Then get out your tools and play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

a bird

Wow, it's Thursday already.
The weeks seem to go by faster and faster lately!

I have a really simple, quick card for you today.
I was inspired by a picture on Pinterest (surprise, surprise!!) and had recently purchased some really cool digital paper.

I absolutely LOVE this paper, it's by Jen Allyson, from Design House Digital, the set is called Picket Fences.
So I printed it out, embossed a sentiment from my PTI Happy Trails set, and there you have it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
I hope you have a wonderful day. :)
p.s. Thanks so much to Aimes for suggesting I post this to the Passion for Papertrey blog for their "knock on wood challenge" - go check it out!

ColourQ #132

Good day, and happy Tuesday!
It's time for me to share another lovely ColourQ colour combo with you.

This week's colours are so bright and vibrant, I found them a little bit difficult!
So I took some inspiration from the picture for my card, and broke out my newish set from PTI "lighten up".

Please take a quick trip over to the ColourQ blog to admire what Arielle and the rest of the DT have to share with you today. Then go get crafty!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful week!

RetroSketches #6 be our guest!

Good Morning!
I am excited to share this week's RetroSketches sketch with you.
Joining us this week to be our guest designer, is Lynn, from the mango boys and me.

Check out her fabulous original card here. It's so wonderfully adorable. :)

I found these felt stickers in the sale bin at Michaels and just had to use them. Kind of unconventional colours for a wedding/anniversary card, but I liked how bold the colours are together!
I used my PTI Background Basics: Houndstooth to make the background, and a sentiment from a Paper Smooches set, word up.

Head over to the RetroSketches blog to check out Lynn's re-do (It's gorgeous!) and more inspiration from Arielle, Jackie and Laurie!
I can't wait to see what you all do with this wonderful sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

ColourQ 131

Good Morning!!
I'm so happy that it is Tuesday, I get to share another wonderful ColourQ
colour combo with you today.
It's gorgeous!

Bright and cheery.

I pulled out my PTI Background Basics: Retro set, which hasn't been used in a while, and used the stripes.
I had seen some beautiful invitations on Pinterest that had the corner blocked off like this to put in the information. I loved how it looked so I thought I would try it myself.

These colours are just fabulous! I do hope you will play along with us this week. Please head over to the ColourQ blog to get some seriously awesome inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
