I was catching up on some blog reading the other day, and was checking out Brandi from the Yankee Belle Stamper's blog. She had been tagged to tell a little bit about herself, I was sitting there reading, and thinking how nice it is to get to know my fellow bloggers better. Plus the fact that we seemed to have a lot in common! Then to my surprise, I discovered I was one of the 4 people she tagged to carry this on. I of course then felt terrible because I hadn't noticed sooner!
Please stop by (if you don't already) and check out her fabulous blog. She has a great style and plenty to inspire!
So here is a little bit about me.
Four shows you watch:

Four things you have learned from the past:
1. spend as much time as you can with those you love
2. be grateful for the things you have. sometimes you don't realize what you have until it's gone
3. do NOT lick a frozen piece of metal, your tongue WILL stick! (see what I mean about getting into trouble!)
4. always wear appropriate footwear!
Four places you would like to go:
1. South America
2. Australia & New Zealand
3. The Carribean

Better late than never?
So I'm a little late getting this posted. I will blame it on setting up my craft room in the new house. I keep getting distracted everytime I turn around. Plus I spent a while at Ikea trying to find some useful but inexpensive storage options for all of my stuff.
Anyway, I digress. On to this week's ColourQ colour scheme. So many neutrals, I love it!
I had some trouble leaving this one alone. You know when you just want to add a little something more but somehow, it just may not work? So I left it alone.
The patterned paper is something I created with a stamp from a Dear Lizzy/American Crafts set I picked up from the 70% off bin at my LSS. I pulled out the blender pen I just got and used CTMH olive & grey wool inks to colour it in. The sentiment is an old woodblock stamp of my mom's. I just love the font. The fibre is from one of the basic grey lines, I really liked how it is thick then gets thinner. My husband said it kinda draws your eye to the sentiment, he's totally right!
I hope everyone had a fantastic holidays! I am getting excited to go see my family in Ontario. We are having a party for my Grandpa, it's his 90th birthday this year.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The spirit of the season!
The countdown is on! Christmas is so soon, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm not done my Christmas cards yet.
I couldn't wait to do this week's ColourQ challenge. And I must say I love how my card turned out. It very rarely turns out the way I first envision, but this one went perfectly smoothly. I LOVE this week's colour combo!
I waited and waited to get this Papertrey set, Turning a New Leaf. I kept flipping back and forth, do I want it or need it or do I care, I must have it? I finally ordered it because it is fantastic and I couldn't wait to ink it up when my package arrived!
I used Papertrey's spring moss for the green background, embossed with my swiss dots Cuttlebug folder. PTI's sweet blush ribbon and distressed dots patterned paper. The fabric covered brad is from Basic Grey's eskimo kisses line.
Only 4 more days to Christmas Eve! I remember all of the years I was so excited I couldn't sleep because I really wanted to hear the reindeer on the rooftop. Now I'm up all night wrapping presents and finishing cards and tags and can't wait to get to bed! I need to learn to time manage.
I hope everyone has a Happy & Healthy Holidays!
Don't forget to play along with this week's challenge, if you are able to get some time to yourself or even get some family to join in the ColourQ fun. The Arielle and the rest of the design team have come up with some great inspiration for you to peruse.
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

some random cards!
Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days before the holidays begin.
I just wanted to share a couple of cards I had submitted that didn't get picked up.
I LOVE this set by Papertrey Ink and had some fun creating a few cards with it.
The first one is for my best friend who is getting married next summer. It's right up her alley and uses their wedding colours. (at least this months colours!!)
Yippee!! We move in 4 days! I hate packing but can't wait to get into the pretty new house.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Holy Moly! CQC #63
Ok. Who else feels like this year has gone by in an absolute flash?
I can't believe we are already at the middle of December.
The time has flown by and I am so behind I can't see the finish.
I better get my butt in gear. :)
It's already time for another ColourQ challenge. This weeks colours are fabulous, I love them all. Especially that Bermuda Bay colour. I love anything that even remotely looks like Teal!
And those napkins are just awesome too!
The glitter is much more sparkly in person! I used PTI cardstock, copics, Cornish Heritage Farms background and Martha Stewart chunky glitter. The ornament stamp is Stampendous, from their "Retro Collection".
Head over to ColourQ and check out all of the fabulous inspiration, then create up a storm using these fabulous colours.
I am off to start packing, we move in 8 days! Yikes!

CQC #62
Yippee, it's Tuesday! Which means yet another fabulous colour combo over at ColourQ.
I had some lofty ambitions of making a fun non-Christmas card but that never panned out! But I did end up making two cards, neither of which I am totally in love with.
The top one was made using a sentiment by Kim Hughes and the ornaments have been cut out of some patterned paper from Close to My Heart. All of the stamps on the bottom one are by Kim Hughes.
The colours are great but I am not good with lots of bright colours. The design team, however came up with some FABULOUS cards this week. Head over and check them out. Then play along and link up your card!
Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by! :)

It's party time!
Well December has barely started but Christmas parties have already begun! 1 down 4 more to go! Not a lot compared to some people but it's lots for me.
So finally being in the Christmas spirit, or at least ready to admit that it's coming soon, I have started to make a few more Christmas cards. As usual I started late and most will probably not make it on time, but it is the thought that counts right? :)
I decided to start with a colour combo by the Play Date Cafe.
I absolutely adore that bow tie and the pj's on the little cutie! The heart shaped measuring cups are pretty adorable too.
I had come across this flocked polka dot white paper and really wanted to use it. I will say that I had a very different idea where this card was to be going but I think the end result turned out ok too.
The vellum base is PTI, the patterned paper and the stamp is CTMH embossed with Zing! white embossing powder and the brad is Basic Grey.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend. :)

BIG birthday wishes!
Hello!
I'm trying to get as much stamping in as I can because I will have to take down my makeshift craft "studio" soon. We move into our new house in 3 weeks! I can't believe how fast it has gone by. Plus the builders finished almost 2 & 1/2 months early.
I am also looking forward to this weekend because my favourite craft show, Festival of Crafts, is on and I can't wait to go with my fabulous friend, Liza. Check out her blog, Rather be craftin, it's full of fabulousness!
There are so many booths to hit, I have already printed out the map and highlighted the ones I can't bear to miss. This one place called Ultimate Gourmet makes the most phenominal hot choclate in every flavour you could imagine, as well as the tastiest dip mixes! I try to buy enough each year to get me through, thank goodness they have a website and will ship!
Anyway on to the card. I created this one, again, for Wplus9's Color Cue challenge 10. This time I picked Dawn's colours, kraft, white, red & purple.
Fabulous right?
I was going to attempt a Christmas card but I needed a Birthday card for a friend.
The patterned paper is Basic Grey, I can't remember the line but all the papers were lovely purples and blues.
For the focal image I die cut one of PTI's limitless layers dies and 2nd generation stamped an image from the giga guidelines set. The setiment is from one of their Birthday sets, birthday bash setiments.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day. :)

colourQ challenge #61
It's time for a fresh colourQ colour challenge! This week's colours are so fabulous together!
Did anyone ever hear the saying "blue and green should never be seen except in the washing machine!"? That has always stuck in my head, despite the fact that I don't abide by it!
I came across this patterned paper and just had to use it.
I don't very often do stitching but I found it needed something more. The little flowers reminded me of the "eye" on a peacock feather, love it!
I absolutely LOVE peacock feathers, they are so beautiful and shiny. I have a pair of earrings that is just a feather but I'm to scared to wear them because they are so delicate. Oh well, I still enjoy looking at them. :)
Please head over and check out what Arielle and the design team have created as inspiration for you and then play along!
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
Supplies:
ink - CTMH new leaf, crystal blue
paper - CTMH majestic design paper, PTI kraft & white
stamps - CTMH (heart) heart to heart set, HA all occasion messages
other - glossy accents (dots on heart), buttons from stash

Color Cue #10 - Our choice!
When this months Color Cue gave us a range of combos I was excited and slightly overwhelmed. I wanted to do them all! But a couple really stuck out and one of them is this one chosen by Kerrianne at Retro Girly Creative.
It's so fabulous, I LOVE green, and black and white are always so classy! (not that my cards ever are!)
I also decided to get in on the flower challenge at CAS on splitcoast.
I really like the look of things cut out off kilter and I am totally in love with the PTI distressed dots paper, so I married the two.
When I popped up the black layer and placed the flower in the middle I didn't like the way it sunk in compared to everything so I raised it up too!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day. :)
Supplies:
ink - CTMH black
paper - PTI black, white, distressed dots
stamps - HA all occasion messages
other - uniball white gel pen, PTI avacado felt, PTI beautiful blooms die, black button from stash

Tags for Papertrey - Blog Hop
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating in the US !
It has been a long time since I was able to participate in a PTI blog hop, They are always so much fun, and ALWAYS have such fabulous inspiration.
The Challenge this month was holiday tags.
"Recently the design team and I put together a variety of holiday tags that are perfect to keep on hand for quick wrap options. Now it's your turn to inspire us and the rest of the Papertrey community! Design a holiday tag or two using all of your favorite goodies and share it with all of us! We will all have plenty of inspiration to create a large stash and try to get ahead of the hustle and bustle of the season!"
I made a few tags last night and really could have kept going! But I thought that sleep was a good idea. :)
This one was made with distressed dots paper, tree from tiny treats (which I masked off to create a "forest". The tag shape was cut out on my Silhouette.
The tag was cut out with PTI's tag sale #2, the orange felt cut outusing one of the limitless layers dies and the stamp is from Holiday tags 2009. I stamped the background with the snowflake from Tiny Treats and then heat embossed with white powder. I know it's hard to tell in the photo but that ribbon is actually a really nice teal colour.
I cut the tag out of kraft cardstock with tag sale #1 then embossed with PTI's book print impression plate (LOVE IT!!!). The patterned paper is my minds eye "colourful christmas" line. The stars were cut out in harvest gold & terracotta tile felt using PTI's seeing stars dies.
This final tag was cut from simply chartreuse felt with the christmas tree die. Maile Belles created this FABULOUS tag which totally inspired mine. The star was cut out with a PTI die then I cut it down to a smaller size more fitting with the size of the tree.
I can't wait to hop and check out all of the fantastic tags.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day.

mitten weather - cqc #60
Happy Tuesday! Are you ready for a fabulous ColourQ challenge combo?
Arielle has come up with a great colour challenge this week, and boy do I just LOVE these mittens!!
Don't they look super cozy?
I am in love with all of the neutral colours in this combo.
I took inspiration, again, right from the photo. Mittens seem to be all the rage this season, stamps, dies, stickers, everywhere. And since I have none of those things I created my own with my Sihouette. I found a mitten pattern I liked, cut it out from scrap paper then traced it onto PTI felt.
Head over to the ColourQ blog and check out what amazing creations Arielle and the amazing Royal Court has come up with!
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)

Noel for Embellish Colour Challenge
My hubby and I just had the most relaxing, do absolutely nothing important weekend. We walked the dog, checked out the progress on the new house, watched some TV, went out for dinner at a fabulous burger bar. It was GREAT after the last 5 months of go, go, go. For now it will be back to busy as we get ready to move yet again, plus throw Christmas in there! Fun times!
As I switch back over to nights, I managed to make a few cards tonight so I thought I would share one I made for the current Embellish magazine colour challenge.
The patterned paper is Scenic Route (snowflakes), CTMH (dots), PTI vintage cream cardstock for the base. The reindeer is by Hero Arts and the sentiment is Kim Hughes for Cornishe Heritage Farms.
That reindeer was screaming for a red nose so I used a red pearl, and then coloured him with copics.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!

Season's Greetings!
Winter is finally here. We have gotten our first snowfall that has stuck around, I think for good!
I know I am probably waaaaay behind everyone else but the snow has finally gotten me into the Christmas spirit.
So here is the first of many yet to come.
I made it with this week's clean and simple sketch in mind. The main layer is supposed to be any shape but a basic one, ie circle, oval, square.
The holly and moose are from a Kim Hughes Cornish Heritage Farms set. The ornament layer was cut out using my Sihouette and then embossed with a cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is Hero Arts.

CQC #59 chasing away the gloomies!
Good morning! Well we finally got some snow. Yesterday it was 9 degrees and it is now -6 and snowing! I suppose it's about time though.
It's Tuesday which means another fabulous colour challenge over at ColourQ.
The colours this week are delicious, and rich. Head over and check out what Arielle and the Royal Court have come up with for inspiration this week! :)
I recently got this awesome patterned paper from Papertrey Ink and just had to use it. The rest of the card sort of just came together after that.
Please join us and play along.

CQC #58 sympathy
Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent mine visiting one of my best friends who lives in B.C. and currently pregnant. It was fantastic, but it definately started my biological clock ticking!
This weeks ColourQ challenge colours are amazing as usual! Arielle has picked some fantstic colours.
I thought they were sort of subdued and unfortunately I needed to make a sympathy card, a friend of mine's father passed away this weekend.
There is always fabulous inspiration from the design team to check out so please do over at the ColourQ blog, then play along!

using up scraps
I was cleaning up my craft space, which is currently the dining room of our temporary living quarters, and I was astounded at how large my scrap bin was.
So I picked up a few scrap pieces and made this simple little card.
The frame was one I cut out with my Silhouette that ended up being to small for what I wanted. The butterflies are the middle pieces I cut out from the frame I made in this card. I coloured in a few spots on the flourish with a white gel pen.
I'm going to try to use up more scraps over the next little while, although it would take years to make a dent!
Thanks for stopping by! :)

CQC #57
I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween weekend! We moved recently and I thought for sure we would get a lot of trick or treaters, but we only got 3! And boy did those 3 hit paydirt!
Oh well, next year we will be in a new community with plenty of kids. I love seeing what creative costumes come to the door!
Well it's Tuesday which means another fabulous colour combo over at ColourQ.

For my card I took inspiration from the change purse in the picture. I used a stamp set by Close to My Heart and had a lot of fun colouring it with my copics!
The background was embossed with the linen impression plate from Papertrey Ink.
The ColourQ design team has made some AMAZING cards this week to inspire you.

frames for play date cafe
I had been going through my list of challenges and came across one I hadn't tried before so I gave it a go! Plus the Play Date Cafe colour challenge colours just made me happy! :)
And when I saw that this weeks Splitcoast "ways to use it" challenge was to use frames I had an idea. I have seen this technique where you place buttons underneath a negative die cut space, and I love the way it looks. I was looking through my sihouette library and found this fabulous butterfly and thought I would give it a try.
It took a while to get the buttons just right but I think it was worth it. I had also wanted to put a sentiment somewhere but ended up liking it as it is.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

No i love you s'more!
I have been looking at the current Embellish Magazine Colour Challenge for a few days trying to figure out what I was going to do. Because.....I don't really do vintage well. I'm OK with it, it's just not really my style. Don't get me wrong I love vintage pieces here and there, I'm just not great at designing vintage!
The Mr. Campy line by Cosmo Cricket reminds me of that old pre-movie jingle "Let's all go to the lobby". It totally cracks me up!
Don't you agree? :)
This is the closest thing I could muster to vintage. ;)I based the layout on an old Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge sketch.
Also a first for me.....no stamping! Yikes!
All supplies were from the Mr Campy digital set I got from Jessica Sprague's website.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day! :)

Thanks for being my friend .... CQC#56
Good morning! Whew...it's been a crazy weekend! I do not love moving. I actually like unpacking but not moving! And knowing that we have to do it all again in 2 1/2 months makes it more fun. :)
I made this card for a friend of mine who was my maid of honour and has always gone above and beyond. Her and her fiance have helped us move twice now, and hopefully we will be able to repay the favour soon!

This week's ColourQ colour challenge colours threw me for a bit of a loop! But when I came across my Hero Arts stripes stamp I had to play with it, I had to figure out a way to make the colours work for me!
The stamps are Hero Arts, inks are Close to My Heart and the flower is coloured with copics.
Please stop by the ColourQ blog and check out Arielle and the design team's fabulous inspiration for this week, then please play along.

Welcome home!
Good evening! I wanted to share a card I made for the people who bought our house. We are moving this coming weekend and i wanted to leave a little gesture for the people moving in. They needed an quick possession date because they are getting a puppy and since we can totally relate to that situation (and because we are so grateful that we sold the house in this market!) we got them a puppy toy. It's one of those fabulous ones that let out kibble as they play with it.
Anyway here is the card, made using this weeks Curtain Call Color Challenge.
The background stamp is Close to My Heart floral elements set, the house is from Unity's July 2010 KOM, the welcome is from a 2006 stampin up set (I have no idea what the name is!) and the stickers are brown felt Thickers by American Crafts.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great night. :)

In honour of breast cancer awareness.....
This week for the ColourQ challenge we are honouring Breast Cancer Awareness month by using a pink colour scheme. This does hit close to home as I know a few women who have been diagnosed and won their battle with it, unfortunately I'm sure we all do. Hopefully more and more battles can continue to be won.
I made this card for one of those fabulous ladies, one of my mom's best friends.
The patterned paper was made using a couple of flowers from Papertrey Ink's With Sympathy set. The sentiment is from my all time favourite Hero Arts sentments set, All Occasion Messages.
I also made a card using the other colour combo Arielle put together.

I made it using a technique I saw recently, using your embossing folders for a sort of letterpress technique. I inked up the back plate of my folder, placed my cardstock inside and ran it through. I did this with my argyle folder and red and orange inks. I then punched out the hearts using a Fiskars punch.
So, please play along with our TWO fabulous colour combos over at ColourQ this week. To make it even sweeter, I believe Arielle is offering a special prize to someone this week who creates and posts a card for each colour combo! Wooohooo!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day. :)
