special!

When I first saw this birdie, i thought he looked kinda "special"! So I made this card to show just how special he is.

Isn't he pretty! I made this card thinking of those wonderful hallways that are in mansions or clubhouses that have pictures of all of the past patriarchs or club presidents, you know? All with their own little frame and plaque!

If you notice the "birthday buddies" bird looks a little different, when I inked up the stamp I just wiped off the birthday hat (not that I don't like it!) and drew in the rest of his head with a copic 0.5mm multiliner pen. The special is from the "you're special" in the "sentiment sampler set" and the star or sparkle is from the "boob tubes" set. ( All Paper Smooches of course!). Oh, and the paper is from Basic Grey's Papyrus collection.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. :)

unfortunately, everything must come to an end!

So it's true! My Paper Smooches guest spot has come to an end.  It has been sooooooo much fun. Not only are the stamps fabulous but Kim is amazing too, so sweet and kind and easy to work with/for!

I have a couple cards left to show you using this months fabulous sets! I hope you enjoy.

This first one was made using the apron template that also came out this month. It's so super cute isn't it? I again used the My Mind's Eye papers I am loving so much. I was able to figure out how to use it in my Silhouette, YAY! I am so NOT computer savvy! I used the heart from Boob Tubes & the sentiment from Sentiment Sampler.
I couldn't resist using that monster again (Y'all know how much I LOVE him) and to put him inside the t.v. just seemed to natural. The papers are from an old Crate Paper collection, Brooke.

Well thanks so much Kim for having me, and to all of you who left such sweet comments on both blogs. I had a ton of fun!

thank you ColourQ #82

Hey peeps! This week's ColourQ colours were extremely challenging for me. I love the colour green but found my mojo enormously lacking this weekend. I don't know maybe it's being so busy everywhere else, so please, go easy on me. :)

The leaf stamps are from PTI's new set by Maile Belles called modern basics. I can't wait to play around with it a bit more. The leaves were die cut with the turning a new leaf die set, which I cut apart to make work for me. Then I ran them through my Cuttlebug with the linen/canvas impression plate. I thought the greens were a little closer than they are....ooops!

The DT had way better luck with the colours, so head on over to the ColourQ blog and check them out. Then link up your own creation. Can't wait to see what you all come up with.

Have a happy Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by. :)

p.s. Come back tomorrow to see my final post as the April Paper Smooches Guest Designer. But I know that you will love whatever Leigh Ann has up her sleeve for you next month!

April PTI Blog Hop

I know I have been super absent these last couple of weeks, but I know you all understand how life gets a little crazy once in a while!
I am trying to keep up with all of your posting but man some of you are on a wicked creative streak. It's hard to keep up. :)

I was able to make a quick card for this month's PTI blog hop.
"dedicated to all the boys and men in our lives! Now's your chance to create Father's Day projects, boy birthday cards and more to build up your stash! Focus on masculine color schemes, fresh pattern combinations, understated embellishments and unique uses of images you may already have in your stash!"

I created the card base with my Silhouette, cutting out 2 stars from white cardstock and one from the yellow distressed dots patterned paper. The airplane is from "flying away", the sentiment is from "inside out birthday" and the stars are from the moon & stars mini from "tiny treats: halloween".

Thanks so much for stopping by. I can't wait to see all of the fabulous masculine cards that you all create! :)

Paper Smooches Guest Post #3

It's Wednesday so I have another Paper Smooches card to share with you. My time as a guest designer is almost at an end, but not yet!

The card above was just me trying to use more patterned papers. I have a million sheets with no idea how to use them, in my CAS style, other than paper piecing. The orange piece is paper tape that i coloured with a copic to match. Originally it was supposed to mimic a shag rug but I put it on on the wrong side of the card so is now just an accent strip! The buttons are, again, linen ones that I coloured with copics.
This card was super fun to make! It is the reason that I bought the wood sheets I spoke of here. I made the "wallpaper" using an image from the scooter set, then coloured it all in with copics. The wood bottom is to be a desk or shelf and the white piece some trim. To make the little piece of cord that sticks out from behind I used the end of the "you turn me on" sentiment that comes with Boob Tubes.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ColourQ #81 a birdie hello

I am SOOOOOOOO ready for winter to be over here in Calgary. We were teased with such beautiful weather for about a week and then whammo! we got another 15cm of snow. I guess it could always be worse though!

At least I have this weeks fabulous ColourQ colours to keep me thinking spring! So soft and pretty, these colours were super fun to work with.

I was inspired by a bag I saw while shopping the other day that had a bunch of birdcages on it then I remembered the love birds PTI set I just got and voila, this card was born!

Head on over to the ColourQ blog and check out all of the wonderful creations waiting there to inspire you, then sit down and create!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day. :)

hi friend!

So I was attempting to clean up my craft room, (well really just my desk!) and I found a remnant that I just had to use. A piece of fence from an earlier card.
And of course sitting on my desk are my Paper Smooches stamps, so they made it on to the card too!

I think I managed to use a stamp or two from about three different sets! It's hard to tell but I went back over the sentiment with a Spica to give it some sparkle. The paper is Mabel from the Stella Rose collection by My Mind's Eye. I am loving these papers. (You'll see some more a bit later!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays

Just a super quick post to share the card I made for my Mother-in-law's birthday yesterday! She is a triplet (not identical), and naturally, how cool is that! What's even more cool is that her aunt is also a triplet and my husband is a twin! Yikes! I think it's a really good thing that the deciding factor is the mom, because I have NO multiples on my side. :)

We went over yesterday for dinner, before I went to work and her one brother surprised her with a visit! (one of the triplets). Unfortunately they lost their other brother about 7 years ago to Lou Gehrig's disease, so birthdays are still a bit hard.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone has a fantiastic Thursday. Yay, it's almost Friday!!! :)

Get Well

Helloooooo there! Today is my second post as a Paper Smooches Guest Designer, and HOORAY my stamps arrived in the nick of time. :)

I absolutely adore those "boob tubes"! Aren't they just so fabulsously retro and funky?

The card I have to share today, I believe was influenced by where I work! I am a Respiratory Therapist and work at the hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. I guess maybe looking at monitors all the time that's what I saw in one of the TV's and that "antennae" looked a lot like part of an EKG tracing.  At least that's what I saw. :)

The sentiment is from another one of this month's sets "sentiment sampler". Which has an abundance of fabulous sentiments for plenty of occasions.
Funky huh? Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great Wednesday!

ColourQ #80!

Good Tuesday "morning" to you! I am having such a scatterbrained past couple of weeks and am so behind on so many things.
But, I do have a fun card to share with you for our current ColourQ challenge. Aren't these such pretty colours, and those lunch bags are just fabulous!

I recently purchased this birch "paper", at Michaels for a Paper Smooches project I will share later. It's really thin wood, almost like veneer.  I wondered if it would be possible to emboss/deboss it, and this is what emerged. I think the debossing turned out pretty well actually.

My PTI "fly away" set just arrive and I wanted to break it out. Please head on over to the ColourQ blog to peruse the AMAZING creations the design team have cooked up for you. Then play along!

I am sorry that I have been a little MIA for that past week or so, I will promise to catch up on all of my blog surfing soon. I hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Two for Paper Smooches

Today is super exciting because this is my very first post as the Paper Smooches April Guest Designer!

Unfortunate circumstances (Canada Post and living in a still-under-construction-community!) led to my not having the April stamps in time to create a card for you. So to make up for it, I made a couple using the incredible "older" stamps. ;)

The one above was created using two flowers from the "friendly flowers" set. I stamped the larger flower multiple times in white ink then came back and stamped the smaller one in the center. I felt it still needed a little something so I added a little bling. Then I used both sentiments from the same set, colouring them in with a copic that matched the PTI raspberry fizz cardstock. It still looked a little naked, so I added even more bling. :)

The second card was made using the plaid heart from "falling for you" and the smaller heart from "vegtastic".

The felt squares are PTI felt in melon berry, terracotta tile and orange zest, die cut with the PTI postage stamp die. I paper pieced the hearts using a striped paper from the Basic Grey "max & whiskers" collection and scraps left over from my background on this monster card.
I stamped the happy & birthday from "birthday buddies".

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Celebrate!

I don't know if you've seen, but Moxie Fab World is having a challenge: In My Beautiful Balloon. It's based on the fabulous trendiness of hot air balloons, which they featured in their March/April issue.

I made this card the other day for this challenge. My only wish is that I had cut the paper in a different spot because of where the sentiment was going. It just didn't look right in any other spot and unfortunately it ended up right over the darkest portion! Oh well!

I used a balloon shape from Silhouette to create a card and cut it out. The paper is from that awesome My Minds Eye 6x6 pad "true blue". The basket was just cut from PTI chocolate paper and I drew on the lines with a marker. The sentiment is from the Paper Smooches set "pretty phrases" and the heart from "spiffy scooters". Which I just stamped onto scraps from the balloon cut out and added glossy accents to them.

I will be back later today to post my very first card as the Paper Smooches April Guest Designer! Yay!!
Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

ColourQ #79

Time for another FABULOUS ColourQ challenge! Again, Arielle has worked an amazing set of colours for us to work with.

The flowers are stickers that I coloured in with Copics. They are from the same set of stickers I used on this card. The buttons I actually coloured as well. I found these linen buttons in the sale bin at Fabricland. I was putting this card together and needed a little something more, so I decided to try colouring the buttons. I mean why not? :)

Arielle and the rest ColourQ Royal Court Design Team have created some fabulous cards and scrapbook pages to inspire you. Head over to the ColourQ blog to check them out, then play along with us.

wedding card for Kim!

So yesterday was Kim from Paper Smooches Stamps' wedding, and her wonderful design team had a fantastic wedding blog hop for her. Check out the beautiful cards they made for her here. Cool thing is, they invited us to play along too by making a card for her with Paper Smooches stamps.
Well I couldn't pass up the challenge, plus Kim is just WONDERFUL!

So here's my card, and Happy wedding wishes to you Kim (and your new hubby!)

The sentiment is from their February set Pretty Phrases, the heart from Falling for You, and the stems are from the March set Friendly Flowers.
Have a wonderful Sunday! Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

create your own "washi" tape!

I was so ridiculously impressed and excited when I saw this post by Lisa @ dahlhouse designs. She actually made her own tape! I loved the idea so much I had to try it out for myself.

I have so much trouble photographing black cards!

I took the paper medical tape, coloured it with a copic then stamped it with PTI's text style.
I kinda like the way it turned out. (except for the pic itself!)

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by. :)
