RetroSketches #5

Good Day!
It's Saturday, so I have a fabulous new sketch from RetroSketches to share with you.

This week our sketch is courtesy of our newest member, Laurie @ Soapbox Creations
Check out her original card here.

How cool huh?

I recently got a new Paper Smooches set in the mail called Yummers, and I saw the sentiment "baked with love". I immediately wanted to use it with an image from one of Kim's CHF sets, a silhouette of a pregnant woman. I know so many pregnant women right now I thought this would make a great combo.

Cute right?
You know, "bun in the oven", "baked with love"!!
Well, I thought it was a cute combo. :)

Please head on over to the RetroSketches blog to check out the rest of the DT's samples. Then link up your fabulous creations.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

i love you

Hey there!
I just have a quick share tonight.
I was playing around with my mists, distress inks, ink refillers and my watercolour paper. I didn't really like what the end result turned out to be but I didn't want to waste the paper.

So I die cut some hearts out of it and made this simple little card.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week. :)

ColourQ #130

Good Morning!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Ours was fairly lazy, the only thing we really did was attend a first birthday party, which was pretty fun!
It was hilarious to see the little man's first reaction to cake and therefore sugar!! Quite entertaining indeed. :)

Well, it is Tuesday which means I have another wonderful ColourQ colour combo to share with you.

Isn't it so bright and fun?

For some reason when I saw this combo I felt a strong urge to use my Perky Plants set from Paper Smooches.

The paper was from my scrap pile so I have no idea who its by!
The green may be a little bit off the Certainly Celery, but i couldn't pass it up. I thought the doodled circles looked too good with the goofy plant.

I do hope you will join us this week.
Please head over to the ColourQ blog to check out all of the fabulous inspiration to be had there.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge

Good Morning!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far.
Not too much going on here, we are just trying to get through some chilly weather. Today is supposed to be a bit nicer, maybe a bike ride or rollerskate if the snow from the other day has finished melting!!

Anyway, I wanted to share a card I made for the most recent Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.
Here is the inspiration picture:

Such adorable felt bunnies! I love their coloured ears. :)
My card isn't really too much of a stretch from the inspiration picture. I sort of stuck with the bunny and green theme.

Now I have been trying to experiment with various liquids, to see what kind of droplet effect I can get. I have been so taken by this trend lately but have had a hard time replicating it.
People seem to be getting these perfect drops, which I am unable to get with my misters. So while at the drug store the other day i picked up some of those tiny medicine droppers, you know for ear drops.
They work like a charm. Plus I found if you only have a bit of ink left in it you can sort of use it as a mister. The air will mix with it to spray it a little bit.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend. :)

Retrosketches #4

Yay for weekends!!
I am so excited to be able to bring you the fourth RetroSketches sketch today.
This week's sketch, is courtesy of Jackie Rockwell from Rockwell Designs.
Check out her blog and all of her wonderful card creations.

I was loving the polkadot paper I used last week, plus I came across my untouched set by TSG, called World's Best, and decided I had to use them.

I tried to pick one of the fun colours from the patterned paper to colour the ribbon and for some reason the red struck me. I know that blue is the typical 1st place colour, but I thought red was just a little more in-your-face!!

We would love to see you play along again this week.
So head on over to the RetroSketches blog to check out the inspiration from Arielle, Jackie and Laurie, then put on your crafty boots and join us. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

ColourQ #129

Good Tuesday morning to you!
It's time for me to share a pretty "cool" ColourQ colour combo with you today.
I just love the hues in this picture!

I, again, went super super simple with this challenge.
I decided to break out my PTI alphabet dies for the first time.

My original plan did not include the letters hanging from a line, but I found that I didn't have that 3rd hue of blue in my felt collection. I did however, have a similar colour in my  floss collection. So I decided to braid it and hang the letters from it. I also decided the whole thing needed a little bit of texture, so I embossed it with my PTI canvas embossing plate.

As always, Arielle and the ColourQ Royal Court have some amazing samples to share with you. So head on over to the ColourQ blog to check them out.
Then go get your ink on, and play along with us.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a great day!!

one more for one

Hello! I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
I have another card to share that I made for a future one year old. :)
(I guess she is technically one by the time this posts!!)

A good friend of mine's little girl was born one year ago, on St Patty's day.
Now I could have gone with a green theme for this one, but I couldn't help using pink. It's so typically a little girl colour!

I had a lot of fun making this card, with the glitter and the paint splotches!!
Throwing the paint was so fun. No rhyme or reason to where it landed. It was so freeing. I can tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when I craft and I am trying very hard to rid myself of that!
Well, thank so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

it's time for number 3!!

Well Hello!
It's Saturday, which means time for the next RetroSketches challenge.
Number 3 already.
A HUGE thank you going out to all those who played along! I can't believe how many fabulous entries we had. :)

This weeks sketch is brought to you courtsey of the fabulous Lori Boyd. Head over to her blog By Lori Designs to check out her amzing designs.

My co-worker's son is about to turn one and I needed a card for him.

The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye, the number is a die cut by PTI, and I have absolutely no idea who the makers of the tiny brads are. :)

Please remember to check out the RetroSketches blog to see what magnificent creations Arielle, Jackie and Lori have designed for you.
I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend.

ColourQ #128

Good Morning!
I'm writing this quickly before I go to bed. I had a crazy night at work last night and I am pooped!

It's Tuesday so that means another ColourQ colour combo.
This one is all about the glorious greens!

Now you will notice that my colours are a bit off. I don't have half of them. :)
So I tried to pick 3 greens that were kind of close.

I saw these really cool button bracelets on Pinterest and was inspired to make this card. It was a bit time consuming but worth it in the end, I think.

I hope that you will head on over to the ColourQ blog to check out the gorgeous green projects that Arielle and the rest of the DT have created for your inspiration.

I can't wait to see the beauties you guys create.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!!

all about the sentiments

Hello!
It's been such a long time since I participated in a CAS-ual Fridays challenge.
This week, they are celebrating the sentiment.

Using the technique I told you about here, I made yet another card.

I am having so much fun playing around with this technique! It's so messy and fun. :)
The sentiment was stamped in white then white embossed to bring it out a little bit more.
I plan on giving this one to my brother & sister in law as we just found out that they are pregnant!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Retrosketches #2

Happy Saturday!!

I am so delighted that the first Retrosketch was received so well!
Arielle certainly has a knack for challenges huh?
You guys all totally rocked that sketch!

Well here's your chance to do it again.

This week it's my turn. This sketch is modeled after my card found here.
This is my new one.

The adorable little elephant is from a There She Goes set called Polka Dot Pals, and the sentiment was created using Paper Smooches Chit Chat.

Head on over to the Retrosketches blog to check out what Arielle, Lori and Jackie have in store for you.
I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
Have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

mustache birthday

Howdy!
I just have a quick share for you today. It was my hubby's Dad's birthday on Tuesday and I needed to make a quick card for him.

I saw this picture on Pinterest and it inspired me!
And just FYI, his Dad has a mustache quite like this one. :)

The frame was cut with my Silhouette then stamped with my Hero Arts envelope block. The mustache is also a Silhouette cut, and the sentiment is Paper Smooches.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

eeeeeek! my first layout!!

Hey!
I'm back with another post today because I am so proud of myself!
I mentioned earlier I have had a whopper of a headache, so what do I do?
Well sit at the computer for a couple of hours!! What else?

My plan was to do some blog hopping to check out what everyone has been doing over the last week, but somehow I ended up creating my very first
digital layout.

So what do you think?

I had a lot of fun making it.

I have been hoarding free kits from all over, and slowly purchasing kits on sale that were my style, for the last 6ish months. While I was off work with my broken ankle, I took a class by Jessica Sprague called Up & Running with Photoshop.
I love her classes, she is so easy to learn from, speaks clearly, and gives you the tools (except photoshop!) to be able to work along with her as you go.
I highly recommend any of them.
I have also taken 2 of her photo editing classes, which were excellent as well.

Thanks for letting me share. I am kind of shocked by the whole thing really!!

Take care & thanks for stopping by. :)

ColourQ 127

Good Morning!
(well it is for me anyway!)
I have had a crazy busy time at work these last few days, and between that and some serious weather changes, my head is pounding.
So I have been hard pressed to drag my self out of bed today.
Plus, the ever adorable Stella is curled up beside me, so it is difficult to motivate myself to move very far. :)
If you look closely, her head is actually on the pillow!!

Anyway, I do have a fun and fabulous ColourQ colour combo to share and inspire you with today, so here it is.

I used the colours this week to create a card for some friends of mine who just purchased their first home. So very exciting!

Now that I am three house purchases in, I long for that excitement (and fear!) of buying your first house.

The sentiment was created using two sets by Paper Smooches, called
Vogue Abode and Good Gab. The honeycomb design is also part of Vogue Abode that I just repeatedly stamped along the side of the banner.
Kind of funky and pretty I guess, starnge combo, but it works for my friends, trust me!!

Well, I hope you will stop by the ColourQ blog to oooh and ahhh what the rest of the design team has created for you.
Then get your pj's on and sit down at your craft table. (Tell me I'm not the only one!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

a new challenge!! Retro Sketches

Well, I am a little late in posting this as I didn't trust Blogger (rather my skills with Blogger) to schedule this post on time. I was planning on writing the post up this am on my break, but things have been a tad crazy!!

Anyway, It's time to announce the start up of a new sketch challenge blog, Retro Sketches. Each week one of the designers will host the challenge, a sketch based on an older card. Arielle, the wonder woman behind ColourQ, among many other things, has created it.

So to start off, here's the first sketch!

What a great sketch to start out with hey?

I had to go to my go-to stamps, Paper Smooches.

I just LOVE this sketch. I am definitely going to have to keep it in my back pocket!!

Head on over to the Retro Sketches blog to check out all of the samples the design team has for you. You have until 11:59pm on Thursday to play along. We'd love to see what you come up with!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend. :)

one last "love" share!

Good morning!!
Yay, it's Friday. It's pretty much my Sunday as I work this weekend, but that's ok!
I have one last card from my "Love Day" card making frenzy.

I was inspired by all of the die cutting and chevrons I have been seeing lately.

I just love the way the chevrons peek out underneath the cutout word. I did this with my Silhouette. I had the die shape in my library and then just typed in the word LOVE and cut it out. The tag has been stamped with my burlap woodblok stamp, that I believe is from Cornish Heritage Farms. The butterfly is leftover from these cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :)

Please stop by tomorrow to check out a brand new sketch challenge blog.
It is called Retro Sketches, and you can find out some deets on the blog here.
