When I originally saw the most recent CAS-ual Fridays challenge of colour blocking I had an idea to use strips of paper to create the focal point. Then as I was cleaning up my desk, I saw these spools of ribbon lying together, and thought those might work!
Although, as I look at my card, I don't know if this really counts as colour blocks!! But I am going to submit it anyway. :) I think I might try this again with some brighter coloured ribbons.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous day.
p.s. has anybody gotten into Game of Thrones? I am not a huge lover of the fantasy genre but I am really into this HBO series. I am told I need to watch Spartacus next!

a different kind of color block! It's really cute - great idea!
ReplyDeleteGREAT take on the color block challenge! I really like how you use the ribbons as the color block!! Terrific design! Thanks so much for playing with us at CAS-ual Fridays
ReplyDeleteThis is SO clever and fun! Love the whimsical looking sentiment you chose, too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched Game of Thrones, but just spent a weekend with friends who highly recommend the series and books. I'm on the waiting list for the book at my library, so I'll let you know what I think!
Wow, this card really works for me! Looks great. (What happens to the ribbons on the back of the card?)
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones... we don't get HBO, but I do want to see it. First I think I'll read the book. I've heard lots of good things about both.
What a great way to use up extra ribbon! Too cute! I am not into the GOT but the hubby and I can't wait for the final season of Entourage to come back on HBO! Do you watch that?
ReplyDeleteSimply fabulous, I love those earth tones together. Thanks for playing along at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteOh, how cute!!! Love that ribbon. I've not seen GOT. I've already got too many shows and a jam packed DVR..lol
ReplyDeleteKasia, this is probably one of the creative uses of colour blocking I've seen and I love it! I don't have HBO and the only Spartacus I know is the original with Kurt Douglas, which is amazing of course. :)
ReplyDeleteColour block or not it rocks! :)
ReplyDeleteDon't have HBO so haven't seen GOT but keep hearing how great it is from people I'd never expect to watch a fantasy show!
I love this! I love fantasy and sci-fi and all that stuff but I haven't watched those shows. It's rare for me to watch TV because I usually have my face shoved in a book. I do watch True Blood faithfully.
ReplyDeleteLove your ribbons-as-color-blocks -- great colors, too! Also in the no-hbo boat...we watch our hbo shows way after the fact on netflix :) I'll add this to our to-try list, though!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great color block! Super creative!
ReplyDeleteLove your block card!! The ribbons look fab together ;)
ReplyDeleteI've made a card for this challenge but my uploads are still giving me grief so I can view and comment on blogs but can't upload anything. Grrrr - hope I can get it sorted before the challenge deadline.

Love this idea, fab card Kasia :)

What a unique way to colorblock! Very cute card! Love the colors! Thanks for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteIt's a brilliant way of color blocking and your card turned out gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe only Spartacus I know is that movie with Russel Crowe....And it has been fun to watch. Not because of the story but because of Russel Crowe :)
Looks like fabulous blocks of color to me!! Super fun Kasia!
