ColourQ #90

It hard for me to believe its #90 already. I haven't been here from the start but Arielle and all of the Royal Court have made me feel so welcome! Its crazy to think that I have done this for 23 weeks! And it is ALWAYS challenging. :)

Here is yet another challenging colour combo!
I was planning on doing some sort of water theme, but I couldn't make anything work for me. This has been a problem lately, I think I need a stamping retreat to focus on creating for a little while! Or maybe just lock myself in my craft room and refuse to come out!

Now I know there is very little stamping, which is really not me. But I thought it was super fun anyway.

Please take a moment to head on over to the ColourQ blog to check out what Arielle and the Royal Court have created for you as inspiration. Then go get your hands dirty and play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a fabulous day! :)

ColourQ #87

Yikes, Tuesday came fast! I have barely had time to unpack since returning from my fabulous trip Friday, then heading back to work again on Saturday. But I did find a little time to (quickly) create a card for this weeks ColourQ challenge.

Arielle always manages to find the most amazing inspiration pieces and this week's is no exception.
Is this owl not absolutely adorable? Oh my goodness, I love him! I decided to carry on the felt theme and produced this super simple card.
The dies are all Papertrey Ink, Seeing Stars, Heart Prints and Love Lives Here. The friends sentiment is Hero Arts, Thank You For Being My Friend set.

Please head over to the ColourQ blog to check out what the rest of the Design Team has made for you and then come play with us!

I have sooooooooo much catching up to do. I promise I will be out surfing all of your fabulous blogs soon. Thank you so much for the kind, thoughtful & uplifting comments you all left on my scheduled posts. It is heartwarming to know that you come and visit my little ol blog! :)

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by. :)

colourQ #85

Yay! It's Tuesday and the first of my scheduled posts!  I am probably in the car about now, starting the 13hr drive to Victoria.

I have a fabulous (seriously awesome) combination of colours to share with you from ColourQ.
I couldn't wait to make a card with these colours. I love the box in this inspiration photo, so retro and cute! The salt & pepper shakers are pretty cute too.
Here is what I came up with:

This is a tad smaller than the typical card size, so I find that flower a little overpowering, but isn't it fun? I found this fabulous blog by Mary Dawn, My Pink Mexico. She makes the most amazing cards, and is now an A Muse consultant. She posted this most fabulous tutorial on how to make these little chrysanthemums and I fell instantly in love. So I raced over to my felt pile and made one!

The birds are from PTI's love birds set, stamped in Sorbet, Chocolate and Grey Wool inks by Close To My Heart. The felt is PTI's melon berry.

Head over to the ColourQ blog to check out the delicious designs the Royal Court has come up with to inspire you.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week. :)

birthday wishes ColourQ #83

Happy Tuesday!

Thanks for joining me for another fabulous set of ColourQ colours. They are just SO yummy this week! First thing I thought of actually, was a sunny day at the beach scarfing down a creamsicle.

Unfortunately I didn't have the stamps to create a card to represent that, so you get this one instead. But don't you just have the greatest feeling now?

I think for the first time I actually have one of the Stampin Up colours. See those ribbon tabs, yep, that is tangerine tango ribbon. :)
The leaves are Wplus9 stamps from the Woodgrain Silhouette Additions set. The sentiment is from PTI's Up, Up and away set.

Arielle and the rest of the amazing Royal Court have come up with some utterly fantastic creations for you, so head on over to the ColourQ blog, check 'em out, then get inky!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day. :)

ColourQ #81 a birdie hello

I am SOOOOOOOO ready for winter to be over here in Calgary. We were teased with such beautiful weather for about a week and then whammo! we got another 15cm of snow. I guess it could always be worse though!

At least I have this weeks fabulous ColourQ colours to keep me thinking spring! So soft and pretty, these colours were super fun to work with.

I was inspired by a bag I saw while shopping the other day that had a bunch of birdcages on it then I remembered the love birds PTI set I just got and voila, this card was born!

Head on over to the ColourQ blog and check out all of the wonderful creations waiting there to inspire you, then sit down and create!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day. :)

ColourQ #80!

Good Tuesday "morning" to you! I am having such a scatterbrained past couple of weeks and am so behind on so many things.
But, I do have a fun card to share with you for our current ColourQ challenge. Aren't these such pretty colours, and those lunch bags are just fabulous!

I recently purchased this birch "paper", at Michaels for a Paper Smooches project I will share later. It's really thin wood, almost like veneer.  I wondered if it would be possible to emboss/deboss it, and this is what emerged. I think the debossing turned out pretty well actually.

My PTI "fly away" set just arrive and I wanted to break it out. Please head on over to the ColourQ blog to peruse the AMAZING creations the design team have cooked up for you. Then play along!

I am sorry that I have been a little MIA for that past week or so, I will promise to catch up on all of my blog surfing soon. I hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks so much for stopping by!

ColourQ #79

Time for another FABULOUS ColourQ challenge! Again, Arielle has worked an amazing set of colours for us to work with.

The flowers are stickers that I coloured in with Copics. They are from the same set of stickers I used on this card. The buttons I actually coloured as well. I found these linen buttons in the sale bin at Fabricland. I was putting this card together and needed a little something more, so I decided to try colouring the buttons. I mean why not? :)

Arielle and the rest ColourQ Royal Court Design Team have created some fabulous cards and scrapbook pages to inspire you. Head over to the ColourQ blog to check them out, then play along with us.

ColourQ Challenge #77

It's Tuesday, which means a fabulous colour challenge from Arielle at ColourQ. Can you believe 77 weeks of colour inspiration?

This week the colours are rich and gorgeous, don't you think?

Paper: PTI, (white, royal velvet). Stamps: PTI, (life). Ink: CTMH, (lagoon, sky, pansy purple). Ribbon: May Arts. Other: PTI Impression plate (linen & canvas), Spellbinders Labels #2.

I know, I know ANOTHER thank you card. But I was recently perusing my stash and quickly realized that my supply of thank you cards was pretty much non-existant. Which is terrible! I have tons and tons of "thinking of you" and "welcome baby" cards, but zero thank yous. So my mission is to correct that, which means you all have to endure many a thank you card post. :)

I was trying to get away from my cutesy cards as of late. I tend to lean towards the cute CAS rather than elegant and soft. Which really just gives me something to work towards, right? And this card is what was born.

The green ribbon is May Arts that I picked up from this fabulous stationary shop (can't for the life of me remember the name though, sorry!) on Granville Island. I just love the look of it. I have it in black as well and have had a heck of a time trying to use it. (and not even because I'm hoarding!)

Please head over to the ColourQ blog and check out what Arielle and the rest of the incredible design team has come up with. Then break out the paper, stamps and ink and whip up something to share.

Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by! :)

True Friend CQC #76 and photos of my baby!

Good morning and happy Tuesday!
Which means............another wonderful ColourQ challenge colour combo!
Green is one of my favourite colours and yet I had the darndest time trying to figure out what to do for this weeks card.
I was cleaning up my craft room and stumbled across my PTI set "butterfly dreams and came up with this card.
Super simple. I used the PTI die that matches the set to cut out the butterflies, cuttlebug houndstooth EF and coloured some rhinestones with copics to match.

Head on over to the ColourQ blog and check out all of the design team's wonderful creations then get into your crafty space and link up your own creation!

I also wanted to share a couple of fabulous pics I took of my baby, Stella.
I don't know if you can see the attitude but I sure can!

These two are recent, she's just over 2 years old.
This last one is from when she was about 4 or 5 months old. Now can you see it?

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day! :)

Woo Hoo! CQC challenge #75

Fabulous colours right? I thought you would agree with me. :)
Holy Cow are these ever bright and cheerful!

Since it's common knowledge how much I LOOOOOOVE Kim Hughes' stamps, I thought I might as well continue to use them. I think it's going to be neck & neck between Papersmooches and Papertrey Ink in the battle for favourite. (to be honest they will be forever tied as I love them both for different reasons......shhhhh!)

When I saw the colours Arielle had picked out for this weeks ColourQ challenge I squealed in delight! I know I may not be known for my bold use of colour, but I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.

I adore this scooter. I mean, how cute is it?
I have a lot to learn when it comes to colouring with copics. I was one of those kids that loved to colour but the extent of my ability was to outline (darkly) in the colour I was using then lightly shade inside. I have no concept of real shading or the ability to envision where the light is coming from. But I do love to colour.

The scooter is from Papersmooches March release - "spiffy scooters", and the sentiment from "vegtastic". That lovely grid background is from my other new favourite background stamp, by Hero Arts "envelope pattern".

As always the rest of the fabulous design team has some yummy creations for you to check out over at the ColourQ blog. Head over and peruse, then show us what you've got.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantastic Tuesday. :)

Journey - ColourQ Challenge #74

March 1st huh? Crazy!! This weeks ColourQ colours had me going for a little bit. I like the colours individually, but I wasn't seeing them come together. Then I saw this little bike on a new Hero Arts set I just bought and Voila!, this patterned paper was born. Then I had to figure out how to use it! My blue did turn out to be a little more turquoise and a little less sky blue. Ooops.

The sentiment is actually a corner stamp that I just decided to use part of, and unfortunately I can't remember who it is by. Also, I didn't have any blue buttons so I figured if people can colour rhinestones, ribbon and pearls to match, why not buttons? So out came the closest Copic marker I had to match and this marbled looking button is the end result. I kinda like it though. :)

Please check out the most wondrous creations the rest of the design team are showcasing and play long with us. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Tuesday! :)

ColourQ challenge #73

Hello and Happy Tuesday! I'm just squeaking this in before Tuesday is over. I haven't totally figured out the scheduled posting thing and I was enjoying a lovely girls "weekend" in banff. A little shopping, a little eating, a little cross-country skiing and a little movie watching!
Super fun!

So........I'm kinda late posting this week's ColourQ challenge card.

These colours are so pretty and just screamed outdoors to me. Plus I think I had Tanja's gorgeous card from last week in my head as inspiration.

I do love making cards with these blocks of colour in the center. I think I'm going to have to try a diffent colour other than blue next time though. But this layout always makes me think of the sky. Oh well!

The kites are from PTI's up, up and away set, as is the sentiment. The clouds are PTI dies cut using vintage cream felt. That adorable picket fence is actually a die cut from Taylored Expressions. I came across it and just HAD to have it. I know I'm not the only one out there who has experienced this phenomenon!

Hop on over to the ColourQ blog and explore the amazing creations in store for you and ink up those stamps and play along!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)

Tuesday It's ColourQ

Yay Tuesday! I guess I'm just happy cause today is like my Friday.
Arielle and the rest of the gang at ColourQ have another great colour scheme for you to play along with.

Isn't it great! I had a heck of a time trying to come up with a card this week, so I went back to basics, really basic!!   :)

The stamps are Hero Arts, the sentiment is from an older set and the branch with birds is from a set I recently picked up called "kiss from the sun" It's super cute.

Please head over to the Colour Q blog and check out all of the design inspiration and play along.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

CQC #71 Pink, Pink and more Pink!

For the many of you who don't know me, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret..... i HATE pink! :)
I don't wear it, i don't decorate with it, nothing. BUT....I do love crafting with it!

I know that pink is so typically a baby girl thing, but I couldn't help but make this cute little pink card. The pinks were screaming baby to me. Which is funny because I have about 5 or 6 pregnant friends right now and those that know what they are having are having boys!

Anyway, this weeks colours are just so pretty together, I love kraft with pink. They are just so soft and subtle.

This is just a close up of the elephant, I put some glossy accents (apparently my THING right now!) over it and the little heart.
Yet again Arielle and the fabulous ColourQ design team have come up with amazing inspiration for you. So head on over check it out and then play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

P.S. I have to admit I do have a tiny little bit of pink in my tattoo, but i try to forget that it is there!

ColourQ Challenge #70

Hello!
These weeks are just flying by. I can't believe it's already February. It seems like Christmas was just yesterday.

Anyway, it's Tuesday which means another fabulous colour combo from ColourQ.

I made the argyle panel using PTI's "a little argyle" background set. I stamped a draker pink onto pink cardstock then stamped the dotted argyle overtop with brown. The sentiment is from on of the year of flowers sets.

Check out the ever-fabulous creations from the rest of the design team then go get inky!
Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by! :)

ColourQ challenge #69

Good day! Boy I was on a blogging blitz last week. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to maintain that this week. :)

Today I bring you yet another fabulous colour combo courtesy of Arielle over at ColourQ.

I absolutely adore this colour combo. Now I know I say that a lot, but seriously, isn't it great?
All the warm tones with the stark of the white. For some reason the purple is just fabulous with the warm oranges.
(I LOVE that necklace too!)

All of my colours are Papertry Ink. Kraft, plum pudding, terracotta tile and melon berry. I stamped the flower in versamark then embossed with clear powder. I love the tone on tone it created. Unfortunately the white emboosed sentiment came out a little sloppy. I keep forgetting to try wiping with the paper a bounce sheet or something first.

Head on over to ColourQ to see what the rest of the AMAZING design team has come up with. We now have some utterly fantastic scrapbook layout designers to feast your eyes on.

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Finally bright!

Happy Tuesday!
I bring you this weeks ColourQ challenge, yet another fabulous combo.
I really like this combo but had some trouble figuring out how to get that soft yellow in there. I don't have any Stampin Up colours, so this was the closest I could come up with.
Unfortunately the lighting in my photo makes the reds look a little more pink than they actually are, sorry.
All supplies are Papertry Ink except the sentiment which is Hero Arts.
Head on over to the ColourQ blog and be amazed by the fabulous design team's inspiration for you this week, then play along.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by! :)

warm wishes - CQC#67

Happy Tuesday!
It's time for another ColourQ Colour challenge and this week's colours are so bright and pretty. Arielle comes up with the most fastastic colour schemes!

Isn't that little tutu adorable!?

I am quite intimidated by bright colours. I do love them, but I have trouble working with them, in all aspects of my life! I wear a lot of neutrals, our house is (for now) a lot of neutrals. I like to bring in a pop of colour, an accessory or two you know? I figure it's a great way to, inexpensively, change things up fairly regularly. If it's just little things.

To make a long story short, that is why my card is just a "pop" of colour!
I think my new mantra, motto, resolution, what-have-you is going to be trying to break out of my comfort zone.
As you can see though, it hasn't started yet!! :)

But....Check out the AMAZING cards and layouts that the ColourQ design team have created as inspiration. Let me tell you NONE of them are afraid of colour! So check it out then play along. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Better late than never?

So I'm a little late getting this posted. I will blame it on setting up my craft room in the new house. I keep getting distracted everytime I turn around. Plus I spent a while at Ikea trying to find some useful but inexpensive storage options for all of my stuff.

Anyway, I digress. On to this week's ColourQ colour scheme. So many neutrals, I love it!

I had some trouble leaving this one alone. You know when you just want to add a little something more but somehow, it just may not work? So I left it alone.

The patterned paper is something I created with a stamp from a Dear Lizzy/American Crafts set I picked up from the 70% off bin at my LSS. I pulled out the blender pen I just got and used CTMH olive & grey wool inks to colour it in. The sentiment is an old woodblock stamp of my mom's. I just love the font. The fibre is from one of the basic grey lines, I really liked how it is thick then gets thinner. My husband said it kinda draws your eye to the sentiment, he's totally right!

I hope everyone had a fantastic holidays! I am getting excited to go see my family in Ontario. We are having a party for my Grandpa, it's his 90th birthday this year.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The spirit of the season!

The countdown is on! Christmas is so soon, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm not done my Christmas cards yet.

I couldn't wait to do this week's ColourQ challenge. And I must say I love how my card turned out. It very rarely turns out the way I first envision, but this one went perfectly smoothly. I LOVE this week's colour combo!

I waited and waited to get this Papertrey set, Turning a New Leaf. I kept flipping back and forth, do I want it or need it or do I care, I must have it? I finally ordered it because it is fantastic and I couldn't wait to ink it up when my package arrived!

I used Papertrey's spring moss for the green background, embossed with my swiss dots Cuttlebug folder. PTI's sweet blush ribbon and distressed dots patterned paper. The fabric covered brad is from Basic Grey's eskimo kisses line.

Only 4 more days to Christmas Eve! I remember all of the years I was so excited I couldn't sleep because I really wanted to hear the reindeer on the rooftop. Now I'm up all night wrapping presents and finishing cards and tags and can't wait to get to bed! I need to learn to time manage.

I hope everyone has a Happy & Healthy Holidays!
Don't forget to play along with this week's challenge, if you are able to get some time to yourself or even get some family to join in the ColourQ fun. The Arielle and the rest of the design team have come up with some great inspiration for you to peruse.

Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
