BOO! CQC #54

So we are sort of in the middle of a move, caught in limbo really, sold the old house and waiting for our new one to be built. In the meantime we have moved to a townhouse which gave me an opportunity to revamp/reorganize my craft space. In doing so I have rediscovered my old sewing machine, which has now been designated to paper only. And I couldn't wait to use it!

This week Arielle has come up with a fabulous colour combo that screams Halloween and I wasn't going to mess with that theme! I found this patterned paper in my pile, it is from Basic Grey's Eerie line, and decided it was a perfect backdrop for my little monster.

CASE study challenge #9

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! Surprisingly, we are enjoying "summer" finally in my neck of the woods. I thought for sure we were in for a very LONG winter. :)

I found a fabulous new (to me!) challenge site, CASE study challenge blog and had geared myself up to start making Christmas cards given the weather we had been experiencing, so despite the gorgeous weather I went ahead and made one anyway.

Our CASE was to be from this card by Barbara Anders.

I LOVE Papertrey felt! It is so soft and easy to work with. Their die shape was a little too big for my card so I cut out a shape with my Silhouette then traced it onto the felt and cut it out. The background panel with the border was also cut from my Silhouette by modifying one of the border designs. The patterned paper is by Scenic Route.

two baby cards

Hello and happy Thursday! Just a quick post of a couple of baby cards I made. I was going through my craft room, packing it actually, and found a little jar of tiny clothespins and just had to use them.

Unfortunately I have no idea what company makes these clear stamps but it is such a cute baby set. And I love the way copics look on kraft paper. The background patterned paper on both were from my scrap bin. I didn't have any tiny pink ribbon but I did have white so I coloured it with the copic marker I used to colour the elephant. Great way to match ribbon!

colourQ challenge #53

Good morning! I wanted to share some exciting news. I have been invited to be on the ColourQ royal design team! I admit when I found out, I went screaming up stairs to tell my DH and have been on a bit of a high ever since. :) I am so honoured.

Now this is a group of fabulous, talented and super sweet ladies. I'm sure many of you know this already but every week Arielle (check out her blog too, she works some layout magic!) comes up with a brilliant colour combination and via colourQ gives crafters some fabulous inspiration.

This weeks colour challenge is so bright and cheerful, and for some reason made me think beach/ocean. So that is somewhat where my card ended up.

I also have a large group of pregnant coworkers that I will need cards for so.....!

Embellish magazine challenge.....take 2!

Howdy! I'm soooo glad tomorrow is Friday!
I thought I would take another crack at the Embellish Magazine colour challenge. You can see my first attempt here.

It was so unbelievably gorgeous out today (we have actually had sun for 4 days in a row! SHOCKING!) that I actually took the picture in natural sunlight! I even managed to get a few sun spots in there too.
I was blog-creeping and found this beautiful card by Deanna Woodland and really wanted to try making those stars. The tutorial can be found here on Heidi Van Laar's blog. 

The stars were made by stamping one of my PTI Retro Backgrounds stamps in Sunny Yellow CTMH ink on white cardstock. I then cut out various sizes using my silhouette, to which I have recently become reaquainted!

The grey polka dotted paper is from a digi kit I found on 2peas.

Hello! Happy Tuesday. This is just a quick post of a card I made for a 2 Sketches 4 You challenge. It's my first time trying out one of their sketches.

The challenge was to use some type of decorative edge. I just used the largest die out of one of my Nestabilities labels to cut the edge of this card.

I used PTI's Halloween Prints patterned paper and matted it with orange zest. The stamp is from last months stamp of the month from CTMH.
This last one was made using my Silhouette. I just downloaded the new software, Silhouette Studio, and boy is it more user friendly! The stamps are from Stampin Up, circa 2004!

colourQ challenge #51

Hello again! I'm back with a card I created tonight based on ColourQ's challenge #51 colour scheme. It's a great blog, with a new colour scheme every week. And not only do you have the chance, by participating in the current week's challenge, to become a colourqueen, but they still make the colours accessible so you can play along with past challenges.

I am not going to lie, I find multiple colours challenging, I find 3 colours challenging! :) But I really wanted to try them out.

I used Hero Arts Hero Hues paper for the background, thinking it could either be a sunrise or sunset sky and punched the clouds out with PTI cloud dies. The balloon stamp is from a Unity kit called Love in the Air, and the sentiment is from my favourite Hero Arts sets called All Occasion Messages.

What a wonderful week! and a challenge!

Thank goodness it's Friday! Well this week has been full of surprises, and to top it all off the weather has finally turned from winter to fall. :)
I have a couple of cards to share today, the first one is one I made for Embellish Magazine's colour challenge. They do colour challenges with a little added twist. This week the colours are grey, yellow, white and black. (A fabulous colour combo i might add!) but you also must use background stamping.

For the background stamping I used Papertrey Ink's A Little Argyle. I love this set soooooo much.  The sentiment is from their Signature Greetings set by Dawn McVey. The butterfly is from a Hero Arts set, which I coloured in with Copics, cut out and then added some liquid glass. The ribbon is also Papertrey Ink.

My second card is one of three I had made for a magazine submission, this is the one they didn't take.

I used PTI's Text Style for the background, Crate Paper patterned paper, an PTI felt and dies for the flowers. I LOVE their felt, it cuts so well and looks so good. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Hello! Since today was so unbelievably gorgeous (at least in comparison to the last 7 days) the puppy and I went out for a tiny photo shoot. The leaves are falling and the sun was out, who could resist. :) 
I just thought I would share a few of those photos.

On to a couple of cards I made a while ago.

This one was one I made trying out my Silhouette. I have tons of files but have not ventured into actually cutting them. The sentiment is from a Kim Hughes Cornish Heritage Farms set.

This one was actually made for one of Susan from Simplicity's One-Layer-Wednesday challenges but I forgot to post it. The sentment is from Hero Arts and the scene is an old woodblock stamp, but by whom I have no idea.
