RetroSketches #16

Well hello there!!
It's time for me to share with you another fabulous RetroSketches sketch.

This week's sketch comes to you from our guest designer N@.
She is a fabulous CAS designer.
Head on over to her blog to check out her AMAZING card on which this sketch is based.

Now at first look this may look a little daunting, but as Arielle said, this is a perfect time for a little "out of the box" thinking!!

I chose to focus on the general layout and all of her wonderful layering.

Now my layering comes in a one layer form, but there is still lots of layers!!
Well at least that's what I'm telling myself. :)

I used PTI's "love birds".
Again I cut apart a stamp that came as two birds because they were too close together to ink up in different colours.
I also embossed the base card with their woodgrain impression plate.

Head on over to the RetroSketches blog to admire N@'s remake and the samples from Arielle, Jackie and Laurie.

We can't wait to see how you interpret this sketch.
You have until Thursday June 21st at midnight to link up.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!!

ColourQ #141

Good day!

It's Tuesday, therefore time for another ColourQ colour challenge.
This week's colours are kinda manly, at least I thought so!
Maybe that's just because of the picture. ;)

So I challenged myself to make something feminine with them.

When I pulled out my labels dies for my last RetroSketches card, it must have sparked something in me because I haven't been able to stop using them since!!
I also used my PTI beautiful butterflies, background basics: retro, and my Hero Arts envelope pattern stamp.

Head on over to the ColourQ blog to take a peek at what Arielle and the rest of the DT have come up with.
Then come and play along.
You have until 12 midnight CST on Sunday June 17 to link up your own fabulous creation.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week!

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Good Morning!
What a crazy couple of weeks!!

I am so excited it's Saturday.
It's the weekend, I have a derby bout tonight and it's time
for another RetroSketch challenge!

 Isn't it fabulous!
You should see Laurie's AMAZING card upon which this sketch was created. :)
Lovely little scene huh?

I decided to turn this sketch into a square card. I mean why not right?

Surprisingly I ended up with absolutely NO stamping!!

The patterned papers are Echo Park's Sweet Day collection, the ribbon is Papertrey Ink, and the glittery chipboard letters are Thickers.

Please head on over to the RetroSketches blog to see the utterly gorgeous creations Arielle, Laurie and Jackie have for you.

We would love to see what you all come up with. You have until Thursday June 14th at midnight to play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful weekend. :)

ColourQ #140 - Oh No!

Hello!

Oh my goodness, I totally dropped the ball!
I was in Vancouver last week and thought I had everything prepared.
Made up the cards I needed, pre-typed up my posts,
but apparently not this one.
And unfortunately, I didn't notice until now.
Major oooops. :(

So I am now bringing you the newest ColourQ challenge.

Such yummy colours!

Again, I adjusted the colours of a digi striped paper I had to match the challenge colours, then die cut out some with PTI's postage stamp die.

Then found some buttons to match and finished off with a Paper Smooches sentiment from "sunny side up"

Head on over to the ColourQ blog to check out ALL of the fabulous creations the design team have come up with.
You will not be dissapointed!

You have until Sunday June 10th @ midnight to link up your own creation.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch Challenge

Good Morning!!
Happy Monday!

It's time for another Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch challenge.
This week's trend is prints.

I loooooooove prints!
I have so much patterned paper that I am running out of space to put it.
The problem is I am regularly at a loss on how to use it!

My favourite way is paper piecing!
And we all know how much I love paper piecing this little monster.......

So that's my version.
I managed to use 5 sets!
Boob Tubes (for the speech bubble), Falling for You, Party Posse,

What will you do with prints??
Remember to link up your fabulous creation before
Sunday June 10 at 11:59 EST
to be eligible to win a $30 Paper Smooches gift certificate!

Head on over to the rest of Team 1's blogs to check out what they have in store for you.

retrosketches #14

Good morning!
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

I am currently away in Vancouver visiting with my family, some of whom I haven't seen since my wedding 3 years ago.

Being Saturday, it's time for me to bring you another Retrosketch challenge.

This one is based off of one of mine, which you can find here.

I stamped the cake image from Paper Smooches "hubby & wifey" set onto some old Basic Grey paper and then cut it out.
I used a white pen to colour some of it in.
I used the chevron from "geo-graphic" with versamark for the edge,
and the sentiment is from "sentiment sampler".

Head on over to the RetroSketches blog to see what wonderful creations Arielle, Laurie and Jackie have designed for you.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!
Thanks for stopping by. :)

ColourQ #139

Good Morning!
It would be a fabulous morning to share a new ColourQ
colour combo with you.
So I will do just that!

Such lovely colours don't you think?

That Rich Razzleberry always throws me for a bit of a loop.
I don't really have anything that comes close to that colour until now!!

I was sneaky with this combo!

I imported the inspiration photo into photoshop,
then made my own swatches of the colours by importing the colours with the paint can & dropper tools.
Then printed them out and voila, instant matching colours!!

The dies are all from Papertrey Ink.

Please head on over to the ColourQ blog to have a peek at all of the wonderful inspiration from the rest of the DT.
Then play along, and link up your own fabulous creations.
You have until Sunday June 3rd at midnight to play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sunday, May 27, 2012

man, it's casual friday - on sunday!

Good Sunday morning to you!

The CAS-ual Friday challenge blog put out a new challenge Friday that completely piqued my interest.

Mostly because I find this a difficult topic, and with Father's Day coming up,  necessary.

Masculine cards, to me, are always difficult,
but still needed.

I know everyone is so over the mustache thing, but I am still loving it!!
And really how much more masculine can you get than a mustache.
Besides tools or cars I suppose? :)

Also I guess a very neutral colour scheme helps keep it masculine!
I had to add some sort of embellishment so buttons and twine it is.

The sentiment is Paper Smooches, using 2 sets to create it, My Guy and My Peeps. I cut apart another sentiment! That used to say "you're one cool chick".

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

RetroSketch #13

Hello there!
Welcome to the weekend. :)

Just in case you have a little time this weekend to devote to crafting, why not take a stab at our new RetroSketch!

Jackie is responsible for this beauty!
Check out her awesome original here.
Aren't those bright colours fabulous?

Here's my take.

Finally I produce something not cutesy!!

All products are Papertrey Ink except the ink.
The flowers are from their anniversary set, the sentiment is from the Signature series, and the white text is their text background stamp set.

I hope you will have some time to play along, you have until next Thursday at midnight to link up your own fabulous creation.

Please stop by the RetroSketches blog to admire what Arielle, Laurie and Jackie have come up with. Amazing as usual!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

CQC #138

Good Morning!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Victoria Day weekend.
And I must apologize to my American friends, I mistakenly thought your Memorial Day weekend was last weekend as well.
Whoops, my bad!!

Well it is Tuesday, which means I have a wonderful colour combo,
courtesy of Arielle from ColourQ, to share.

Kinda funky! (the shoes and the colour combo!)

I am always excited when crumb cake enters the mix because i love using kraft paper!!

Here's my take on the colour scheme.

I tried this layout the first time round without the versamarked background and it just looked too plain, so I stamped the large dots from the Paper Smooches "geo-graphic" set.

I am now wishing I had just dry embossed the background with something a little more subtle. Oh well!!

The little tag is a die cut from PTI's "tiny tags", and the hello is Paper Smooches "word salad".

Hop on over to the ColourQ blog to eye up the rest of the DT's fabulous creations. Then get craftin'!
You have until Sunday May 27th to play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by. :)
