I appologize for not explaining the end part of my post yesterday, I am a Derby girl! (Rollerderby, that is.)
I tried out last February and got on as "fresh meat", then had to practice for 3 months before we had our "benchmark" testing. In other words, a skills and written testing which we had to pass in order to be drafted onto a team. In August of last year I passed benchmarks and played my first Rookie game, during which I broke my wrist!
But all was well because after that game, I was drafted onto my favourite team, The Cut Throat Carhops. (as a side note, being an A&W carhop was my ultimate dream job as a kid! no joke!)
We all have to pick derby names, my husband came up with mine.
Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sure you will hear more about it as the season progresses. Next week I am off to Victoria, BC for a weekend-long bootcamp put on by the Canadian Women's Roller Derby Assocoation. There will be some coaches up from the US. It should be fun!
On to a card, which is really why you are here right? :)
More playing around with my Paper Smooches stamps. I just LOVE that squirrel. This one is kind of interactive.

I didn't have a stamp with Kim's writing that said "don't worry", so I used a font I got of her writing here, at ScrapNFonts. Fabulous right?
Well thanks for sticking around for such a long post! I hope everyone has a great week. Since I will be gone for a while I am going to try out the scheduled posting for a few posts. I guess we'll see. I've never done it for more than one post at a time. :)
Love love love your card, that squirrel is super cute. Thanks for the link to the fonts...omg, I didn't realise Kim sold fonts through this store, the possibilities are endless now :)
ReplyDeleteJenny x

ReplyDeleteFirst: LOVE the squirrel hanging out in a closet! Too funny!

Brilliant card, love the sweet fun images!

ReplyDeleteCute idea, cute card, great execution! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you are officially one of the coolest people I know. Thanks for sharing these fun photos!
ReplyDeleteLove that super cute squirrel and the unique design. You always rock the PS stamps!
A Derby girl! That rocks and your name is awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute card. You and that squirrel are going to go places, kid!
Okay, that makes you about the coolest person! You go, Winsome Bruisome! (I'm laughing just typing that) I can't believe even after you broke your wrist, you're pushing on for a new season--that makes you AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, a most fabulous PaperSmooches card! The stamps are made for you--what you do with them is just brilliant every time! Have fun this week!
That is so awesome! I can't even skate let alone do it fast with other people trying to stop me. Wow!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty awesome how Rollerderby is making it's way back, but I had no idea how much you had to go through to be considered. Before I left Hawaii, the teams in Hawaii were really looking for support because it cost a lot to travel. Good luck! You rock! So do your awesome cards! You matched the font perfectly!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now you really ARE my hero - how fun is it that you're a roller derby girl! LOL Love, love, love your name - so funny (your hubby is clearly as clever as you are). If you ever have a competition (or whatever they're called) in the Vancouver area, I'd love to come and watch - I live in WA state, so Vancouver is about three hours away and so worth the drive to come and see you play! LOL Love your clever presentation of what is right now my fave image of Kim's - that funny squirrel. As always, BRILLIANT!!
ReplyDeleteOK. So I got it that you are uber-good at card making, but I guess we need to add rollerderby to the list too?!!! Cool derby name from your other half - that makes me laugh ;)
ReplyDeleteSecret: I'm totally freaked out by any kind of exercise. It totally gives me the heebie-jeebies at the very thought, and I have really major confidence issues about doing it. So I'm always wowed by people who are good it sports and love it the way you do.
Meanwhile- I'll look forward to more lush cards from you on the advance scheduling. If they are as adorable as this squirrel, I'm first in line to take my hat off to you. Hehe ;)
Hugs, Ruth S
Oh my gosh this is so fun! I love that your a rollerblade derby girl by day and a crafting card maker by night! Have super cool is that!
ReplyDeleteGirly, YOU'RE THE B-O-M-B!!!
ReplyDeleteNot only do I totally adore your cards, now I idolize you as my roller derby hero!!!

ReplyDeleteLOL about the squirrel card - your creative wit is SO CLEVER. :) And you are a roller derby girl?! AMAZING. I used to watch roller derby back in the day on TV and I always wanted to be one! That ship has definitely sailed though. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are livin' the dream, girl!
Kasia, I can't help but admire both your athleticism AND your craftiness!! I love those photos and stories of your derby fun and could you please send me that squirrel card because it's the cutest thing I've ever seen! I must get that set now!! You do amazing things with and for Paper Smooches. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe card is awesome (no surprise there) but roller derby?! You are so cool and must have a huge set of balls or would nuts be more appropriate since you have a squirrel card on this post? LOL I roller skate occasionally with my kids but it's scary and I'm afraid to just....go. Ya know? I want to cling to the side and scoot along and hope nobody hits me. Love the derby name too! Now I know why there's a skate in your watermark.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Looks so killer! Love your derby-name, too! ;)
ReplyDeleteOk that's it - I'm adding your blog to my blogroll & following your awesome blog! I love all of your projects! Also, it is way cool that you're a Derby Girl!!!! I just recently saw "Whit it" & I remember thinking that Roller Derby must be the coolest thing ever (I think I may have a lot of rage & thought THAT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ME - hee hee). Anyway - I'm glad I found your blog (from Wee Memories), it's super inspiring!!!
